Comment : Advise nr. 1 : The first time we have tried to make this walk, a soldier in a 4x4 vehicle stopped us close to the Fort of Niolon. He explained us that the access to this area was forbidden because of fire risks and that we had to go back. We learnt afterwards that this occures often in July and August. Therefore, we advise you to inform you before departure.
Advise nr. 2 : To have a chance to find a park place, you have to arrive early. When you arrive in Niolon, do not pass under the railway but follow this railway on your right to find the small car park (for free) along the railway. The walk starts at the edge of this car park.
This walk, titled "Le fort de Niolon" (the Niolon Fort) starts along the coast with nice views on the sea, a small creek under the railway bridge and a little stone bridge. Then you will walk through the nature and pass in front of the Niolon Fort. There is no shade but the landscapes are splendid. Finally you walk down to Niolon.
Do not forget to come back by the "Hors itinéraire" track of the guide to see the harbour with the children diving like in the film "Le grand bleu" (photos nr. 19 to 24).
In short, a beautiful walk, nice and varied.
