Hiking

Source : This hike is described in the guide PR - La Dordogne à pied, page 96. You will find inside a description of the track, a map, some information about the signs, the difficulties...

Comment and photos of : Les webmasters - 39 years old - couple

Added the : 04 December 2005

Duration : 3 h

Starting point : easy to find

Signs : good
Physical capacity : easy

Landscape : quite nice

Global mark : bad

Comment : We had some difficulties with the starting point because of the differences between our road map, the walking guide and the names indicated on the spot. In fact, Montclard on our map IGN TOP 250 Bordelais Périgord (edition 1987 !) is called Saint-Georges-de-Montclard on the spot and Saint-Georges-de-Montclard is called Saint-Georges on the spot !
The easiest is to follow the D21 until the sign at the entry of the village "Saint-Georges-de-Montclard". Halfway, turn left (coming from Bergerac) and park on the car park of the "Salle polyvalente" on your right.
Once crossed the small historic centre of the village, the walk is mainly a walk in the forest.
If you are fond of huge landscapes, forget this walk immediately.
But if you are interested in the world of plants, you will be delighted by the numerous kinds of trees and plants on your track, sometimes indicated by a signboard (about thirty).
On your track, for example : chestnut tree, quince tree, hazel tree, Scots pine, fern etc.
Anecdote : from the entry until the exit of the forest, almost the entire hike, we have been surrounded by clouds of flies. It really spoilt our walk… We might change our soap ! ;-)
