Comment : A nice circular walk in the "Monts du Caroux". Start at the car park of the Gorges d'Héric (not for free : 3 Euro in 2007 ! To avoid this, start like us at point 1 of the hike, in Mons, there is place to park), then follow the blue triangular signs until the hamlet of Héric. Attention : the views are not always very well indicated, anyway, we failed the first one... Nice walk through the chestnut grove, then holm oaks. The path climbs up a lot (there is a difference in height of 600 metres !), but is shady and nice. We advise you to visit the charming hamlet Bardou to see the houses and the peacocks, it is worth the detour ! Have a drink in Héric, there is a bar with soft drinks and you will be served with a smile. Then, no more signs, but the trail is evident : you have to follow the Gorges d'Héric over a small path. Possibility to bath, but the water is fresh ! The river and the gorges are delightful. Arrival at the car park where you will join your car... or you will take the charming path along the holiday cottage Gîte Le Caroux until Mons. Very nice hike of 11 km, a bit difficult with children because of the difference in height... A must ! Click on the photos to enlarge them
