Comment : The starting point of this hike is the superb mediaeval village of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert (romanesque abbey...). From there, you go up to the ruins of the Géant castle and you turn left to reach the Notre-Dame-du-Lieu-Plaisant hermitage (perfect for the picnic). You climb then to the Ginestet col and you go down through a forest of Salzmann pines. Finally you go back to Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert through the garrigue.
During this hike, you go up or down all the time but always via some very progressive winding paths. Have a lot of water and a sun protection because the shadow is rare. The signs are perfect.
In short, a nice hike, quite varied, with a superb starting point. A lot of hikers (families...).
Do not miss very close to Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert : the Clamouse natural cave and the Hérault gorges under the "pont du Diable" (the devil bridge)...
