Comment : A nice city walk, along the Lez ! Spring is the right season for this walk because of the field with poppies and cornflowers. You walk along the Lez (the river passing through Montpellier). At the beginning you have few signs but the road is clear. Nice views on the town of Castelnau-le-Lez. After the visit of the Méric gardens, you walk to the nature reserve of the Lez, along the Zoo of Lunaret. Now you will find the yellow marks of the French hiking federation. You will see a hunting lodge, lush vegetation (magnolia, plane, cedar, etc.), a canoe outdoor complex, animals (ducks, kingfishers, cormorants, frogs, etc.) and also a former orphanage. Arrival at the Agropolis gardens. To return take the same road. A nice family walk. There is almost no difference in height. The itinerary is easy and shady. Attention : there are opening times and days for the gardens (see the corresponding photos) ! In short, this walk is a must when you visit Montpellier and you want to move away from the cars. You can, additionally, visit the "Zoo de Lunaret", which is free. You can also start at the Agropolis park instead of the Méric Park and do the walk in the opposite order. Have a nice hike !
