Comment : It must be the third or the fourth time we do this hike and it is always a great pleasure. The starting point is very easy to find : it is a small car park just before the barrage of the Salagou lake. This hike has three sections. You start by a descent in front of the barrage to admire the red rocks. Then, you climb to the basaltic pipes and you walk along the borders looking over the lake. The views are wonderful. Finally, you walk down to the small village Les Vailhés and you walk along the borders of the Salagou lake in the direction of the starting point. On this section you can discover the Notre-Dame-des-Clans Chapel, picnic on the border of the water and have a swim. This hike presents no major difficulties apart from the track after the basaltic pipes and the ascension at the end. The signs are perfect. This hike on the borders of the Salagou lake is always an enormous pleasure. We think it is the most beautiful hike of the Hérault region. Click on the photos to enlarge them
