Comment : The Gardiole massif in Gigean offers a circular view on the plain, the villages, the sea, the ponds... This is really wonderful ! Do this hike when the sky is clear. But do not go in the summer because there is almost no shade on the track and there is no water point. The departure is at the Saint Félix de Monceau abbey which is a very beautiful abbey from the 12th century. The only negative point was the motorway crossing the plain juste underneath. The track is easy. You only have to watch out on the massif, because there are different tracks there and they all look the same !!! Personally, I have been mistaken and I made a big detour (No regrets, because of the very beautiful landscape). Though, it is difficult to get lost because there are lots of landmarks : the sea, the ponds, a cave, the plain... Attention : the wind turbines referred to in the guidebook were not there, nor the aerial on the Anduze rock ! It is not a very difficult hike (13 kms with 100 m difference in height). It is a nice walk in the garrigue, the pines, with view on the sea and as bonus a visit to the Saint Félix de Monceau abbey. Click on the photos to enlarge them
