Comment : The theme of this hike is the forest of Mixe. From the car park you reach a nice picnic area where a discovery trail "sentier de découverte" starts. The trail is indicated by owls and completed with many but sober notice boards about the flora (trees, plants ...). To pass the brooks, there are to the children's delight big square stones, a rope bridge or a footbridge. At this interesting, amusing and obvious path has been added its total opposite. The second part called "Les cascades" takes also one hour. The waterfalls are only small rocks whereover the stream runs. The path is neglected and often you have to zigzag because of brambles and dead trees. The marking out is also very unclear shortly after point 6. What a delight to join again the "sentier découverte" at the end ! In a nutshell, enjoy the discovery trail (1 hour) and forget the extension "Les cascades" (also 1 hour). Little problem regarding the time : The "sentier découverte" takes 1 hour. The option "Les cascades" takes also 1 hour. In the guide book, it is not descibed as an optional variation but as a part of the hike. So, the guide should not say that the total time is one hour, but two hours. In family and without break, this hike has taken us 2 hours 5 minutes. Click on the photos to enlarge them
